SUMMIT, NJ - Reports of smoke coming from a commercial building at 308 Broad St. resulted in the Summit Fire Department (SFD) responding to an early-morning fire at Star Physical Therapy, with firefighters arriving on the scene at just after 5:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, the SFD found heavy smoke coming from the building and, after units entered the building, firefighters encountered heavy smoke conditions but were able to effectively locate and contain the fire to the single business.
The fire was declared under control at 6:20 a.m.
“Our firefighters made a quick stop and were able to effectively control the fire,” said Summit Fire Chief Eric Evers. “The fire remained contained to the single business and there were no reported injuries to responding firefighters.”
Summit Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Millburn, Springfield, Union, Westfield, New Providence and Berkeley Heights Fire Departments.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by members of the SFD investigation team and the Union County Arson Investigations Unit.
