Summit Girls LAX Turns the Tables on Shawnee, Wins 13-4

April 26, 2014 at 7:54 PM

SUMMIT, NJ - Different team.  Different season.  Different result.

The Summit High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team's defeated Shawnee, the opponent that ended the Hilltoppers season via a 13-12 overtime loss in the 2013 Tournament of Champions semifinals, 13-4 at the Upper High School Turf Field.
The Hilltoppers -- now 11-1 on the season -- were paced by four goals from Sara Szynal, a Hat Trick from Catherine Cordrey, and two goals from Maggie Moriarty.  Callie Humphrey and Madeleine Gramigna contributed to Summit's big edge in draw control, Olivia Kelly was a force winning ground balls, and Kady Glynn had five saves in goal.
Again demonstrating their offensive depth, seven Hilltoppers scored goals, but Summit Head Coach Mike Walsh reserved his highest praise for his team's defensive effort.  "Today was about playing a good game and trying to get better.  We pride ourselves on playing a challenging schedule, and Shawnee was a quality opponent.  Our defense played particularly well today."

Summit got first half goals from Szynal, Meaghan Celmer, two more from Szynal, Moriarty, and Cordrey to take a 6-3 lead.  The second half was a near mirror reflection of the first, with the Hilltoppers rolling a seven-spot behind goals from Cordrey, Gramigna, and Cordrey again in the first five minutes, and Samantha Forsyth, Szynal, Moriarty, and Isabel Zachara in the final 10 minutes of the game.  Shawnee managed one lone goal in the half.
Summit stays home to take on West Morris Central, April 28, at 4 p.m., before traveling to Immaculate Heart Academy, April 30, also a 4 p.m. face-off.  The Hilltoppers then play a rare home evening game May 3, when the play Farmingdale at 7 p.m.

Let’s make America the Greatest Show on Earth Again.

I was very sad to learn that after 146 years of big-top entertainment the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus is folding its tent and leaving town.

This comes a year after the circus, due to mounting pressures from animal rights activists, got rid of the elephants.

It is not really ...
