SUMMIT, NJ - Extricating themselves from the offensive doldrums that dogged them in their previous game -- a loss at Linden that dropped them out of the Union County Tournament -- the Summit High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team got a combined 51 points from juniors Eric Baier and Will Hellings plus senior captain Malcolm Sidebottom and earned a bounce-back 63-47 win over Wayne Hills at the Main Gym.

Baier scored 22 points, Sidebottom had 19 and Hellings added 10 as the Hilltoppers improved to 16-6 on the current campaign. Baier (3) and Sidebottom (5) had eight three-balls between them.

Jake Bell had a monster game for the Patriots, scoring a game-high 25 points.

Summit scored more points in the first half -- 31 -- than they did in their entire previous game versus the Tigers, and generated double-digits worth of offensive output in all four quarters. Ahead 18-11 after the opening eight minutes and 31-23 at the halftime break, the Maroon and White scored 16 points in each of the final two frames -- edging them both -- to earn a 16-point victory over a quality opponent that came to the 07901 with 16 wins of their own.

Summit returns to the Hilltop City Hunk of Hardwood when it takes on Plainfield February 16. Tip-off versus the Cardinals is set for 1 p.m.
