Summit H. S. Launches Athletic Hall of Fame; Inaugural Class to be Inducted Oct. 9

SUMMIT, NJ - Summit High School (SHS) has announced the launch of its Athletic Hall of Fame.  The inaugural class will be inducted at a Hall of Fame Ceremony, on October 9  at the Grand Summit Hotel.  The event will serve as the kickoff to the 2014 Hilltopper Alumni Weekend. 

The 2014 Hall of Fame inductees were nominated by team members, the Summit community, coaches, peers, and others via an online nomination form. 

“Creating a Hall of Fame to honor past athletes, coaches, and teams who propelled Summit High School to success over the years, furthers our commitment of Honoring the Past and Creating the future,” said SHS Principal Paul Sears.  “We are very excited to launch the program.”

“As a lifelong Summit resident, I have truly benefited from the diversity of this great community, as I know it has inspired my brothers, my sons, and me to be the very best we could be,” said Steve Schroeder, Board of Trustee member and 2014 inductee.  “The coaching excellence and guidance we experienced at SHS has impacted our lives and I am humbled to be selected in this inaugural class.”

 “I’m honored to serve on the inaugural committee of the Summit High School Hall of Fame,” said Board of Trustee member Stephen Murphy.  “The committee is charged with one simple mission: To recognize and honor the men and women who have made significant athletic contributions at Summit High School.  Thankfully, our list of candidates continues to grow, and will provide a solid foundation for years to come.”
