SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit High School Boys Varsity Hockey Team seems to be enjoying life in the New Jersey Interscholastic Ice Hockey League and the McInnis Cup.

In its inaugural season in both the League and the tournament, Summit has advanced to its second Cup final in less than two weeks, with The Maroon & White having claimed their sixth Union County Cup in eight years via a 6-0 drubbing of Westfield February 4.

Summit will face Livingston in the McInnis Cup final at Richard J. Codey Arena on February 18 after the Hilltoppers comfortably beat Verona 5-0 at the Warinanco Skating Center.

A couple of senior captains -- assisted by a freshman -- teamed up on Summit's opening goal, scored by Corey McManus and assisted by Owen McLaughlin and Tom Pryymak at the 11 minute mark of the first period.

J.P. Jacobello -- from Greg Moller and Johnny Puskar -- made it 2-0 with just 40 seconds left in the period.

After Jake Puskar, from Will Vitton and McLaughlin, scored to put Summit up 3-0, Vitton applied the dagger at the 10:26 mark of the third, assisted by Pryymak and McManus.

Chris Giangiulio, set up by Jack Riggin and sophomore Remi Vidal, put a cherry on sundae when he found the back of the net with 1:28 remaining in the game.

Summit threw 44 shots on goal to Verona's 16, and Wilson Lees turned away everything he faced to earn the shutout.

The Summit Livingston McInnis Cup Final will face-off at 5:45 p.m. Richard J. Codey Arena is located at  560 Northfields Avenue in West Orange.
