Summit Police Chief Robert Weck, along with PO Charlie Daly, PO Ryan Stanek and Summit Fire Chief Joseph Houck, made a splash for a worthy cause during this year’s National Night Out on Aug. 6.  All three volunteered for the “dunk tank” to raise money for Brooke Healey, the four year old New Providence native diagnosed with a very rare brain tumor called a DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma).

Thanks to the monies generated by Summit residents, contributions from the Summit PBA Local 55 ($250), and the Summit FMBA ($100), Brooke’s father Steven Healey received a check for $1,000. “We are happy to play a small part in this family’s tragic struggle to find alternative treatments for Brooke, for whom only the short term beneficial effects of radiation are available," Weck said. "Anyone wishing to donate or to learn more about this rare illness should visit their website at www.brookehealey.com.”
