Superintendent Search Community Meeting Announced at West Orange Board of Education Meeting

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange Board of Education meeting acknowledged the state championship victory of the boys soccer team, approved several items on first reading, and announced the start of the West Orange Superintendent search process at the Monday night BOE meeting at the Library Media Center Center at West Orange High School.

The WOHS boys varsity soccer team, which took home the state championship for its victory on Sunday over Clearview at The College of New Jersey, will be recognized at the next Board of Education Meeting on Dec. 16.

First reading board policy revisions were approved for Use of School Facilities, Conduct/Discipline, Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying, Internet Safety and Technolody, Research, and Special Education.

Two notable pending resignations of West Orange School District educators at West Orange High School were approved. Dr. Michael Lawrence, Honors and AP Physics Teacher, and Mary Ann McGonigle, Honors and English Teacher, were approved, Lawrence for July 1, 2014 and McGonigle for Feb 1, 2014.  Both educators have taught in the West Orange school district for more than 40 years.

On Dec. 9 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the West Orange High School Auditorium, a Community Meeting will be held as the search process for a new superintendent begins. Interim Superintendent James O'Neill is slated to remain through August 2014.
