MURRAY HILL, NJ - A witness spotted a suspect breaking into vehicles at the Murray Hill Railroad Station Tuesday evening.
According to New Providence police, at around 7:14 p.m. patrols responded to a report that someone was breaking into vehicles in the train station's parking lot. The witness reported seeing a male exiting a silver Jeep Wrangler, with the alarm going off. The witness told police he observed the suspect flee the parking lot in a blue Jeep Wrangler.
The witness attempted to follow the suspect, but lost sight of the vehicle on Southgate Road. When patrols arrived, they located the silver Jeep Wrangler with its soft top ripped and the ignition tampered with. A 2009 Audi Q7 parked in the lot was also found to with its driver’s-side window smashed and the ignition on the Audi tampered with.
New Providence police say the suspect is described as a 5-foot-11 black male, approximately 200 pounds, wearing a green coat and a skull cap.
