NEWTON, NJ – The United Way of Northern New Jersey, which has its Sussex County office in Newton, recently received $7,500 from Sussex Bank's SB Foundation, Inc., from funds raised at the organization's annual golf outing.
Although this year's golf outing on May 13 was cooler and windier than typically expected, the plunging temperatures did not deter the golfers from more than doubling the fundraising results for the SB Foundation, Inc.
The organization, a §501(c)(3) organization, has a mission to raise funds for local non-profit groups and scholarships, specifically those that are philanthropic, benevolent, public health or social welfare organizations, in the communities where Sussex Bank serves.
"The Foundation's goal is to make a positive impact on our community," the organization's website states.
“On behalf of the United Way, we are ecstatic to receive this gift," said Mary Emilius, chief professional officer of United Way of Northern New Jersey. "It will really make a difference in our continuing efforts and support our mission.”
At this year's outing, New York Giants Alumni golfed alongside of the other participants. Those who joined in were: Brian Lee Kelly, Christian Peter, Gary Michael Jeter, Roman Dissake Oben, Scott Davis, Billy Taylor and Brian Saxton.
"We are excited to be able to give-back to such a worthy cause and to make a positive impact in our community,” said Anthony Labozzetta, president and CEO of Sussex Bank.
