Sussex County Firemen's Association Inspection Day and Parade

The 92nd Annual Sussex County Firemen's Association Inspection Day and Parade will be hosted by Ogdensburg Fire Department on Saturday, October 6th with step-off promptly at 1:00 p.m.  The parade will begin in Ogden Hills and proceed on Route 517 through town, ending at the Ogdensburg Firehouse.

The parade will also include invited dignitaries, guests, New Jersey Forest Fire Service and many Guest Companies.

Hose Laying Competition will begin one-half hour after the end of the parade.  Trophies will be awarded afterwards for Marching, Apparatus and Hose Laying competitions.  Both in-county and out-of-county guest departments and EMS squads are eligible for trophies.

2012 Parade Line-up is as follows:  Ogdensburg, Andover Twp, Sussex, Andover Boro, Sparta, Branchville, Hopatcong, Lafayette, Swartswood, Sandyston Twp, Stillwater, Hamburg, McAfee, Green Twp, Fredon Twp, Frankford Twp, Pochuck Valley, Newton, Vernon, Franklin, Byram Twp, Highland Lakes, Montague Twp, Stanhope, Hardyston Twp, Wantage Twp and Hampton Twp.

Many man hours go into preparing apparatus for competition and this is the day we show our pride among ourselves and our community for what we do all year long - year after year.

We would like to extend an invitation to all residents of Sussex County to come out and support your volunteer fire departments on our annual inspection day.  We hope to see you there!

Sparta Police: Intoxicated Sparta Man Crashes into Light Pole

SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed into a light pole.  On January 9 around 11 p.m. Sparta police Cpl. Kurt Morris responded to the report of a naccident on West Shore Trail near White Deer Plaza according to police.

Sparta Man Speeds Past Police, Faces Numerous Charges

SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta man faces numerous charges including driving while intoxicated after speeding past a police car on Woodport Road.  Jake Forshey drove past police officer Tom Snyder on January 8 around 2:50 a.m, according to police.
