EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ– Mayor Brad Cohen announced a partnership with Burbio to launch an events platform for the community.  Burbio hosts a free website and mobile telephone app that funnels events offered by the East Brunswick schools, library, government, and community into a singular easy-to-use digital service.

With Burbio, it’s simple for residents to select calendars to follow, create a customized feed of local events, sync events to their Google or Apple calendar, and be notified when details change.   Burbio’s platform reads event data feeds from public calendars and automatically updates when the source site changes, instantly notifying users who have synced calendars.

“East Brunswick is a dynamic place.  Our community appreciates and utilizes innovative technologies to support our many diverse interests.  Burbio offers an efficient and effective method to bring our community together in one synchronized place,” stated Mayor Cohen.  “I am eager to make government more accessible, and Burbio is just one initiative to connect residents with community offerings.  Burbio demonstrated that its website and mobile application are easily personalized and user-friendly, for all different devices and operating systems.  Residents will have more resources at their fingertips to manage their lives with this valuable service – and at no additional cost to them or the town.”

Burbio’s East Brunswick platform is currently populated with calendars from all the schools, the East Brunswick Public Library, township government, and a number of participating non-profits.  Burbio offers free event streaming for residents and local non-profits.  Any organization can contact Burbio to get their events listed.

East Brunswick is Burbio’s first government partner in Middlesex County, New Jersey.  Burbio’s civic partnerships include other New Jersey municipalities, including the Village of Ridgewood, Livingston and Middletown Townships, and the Boroughs of Glen Rock and Fair Lawn, plus more to come.

“We are so excited to be in East Brunswick,” said Burbio co-founder Julie Roche, a mother of four who designed the service and runs the technology.  “It’s such a dynamic community with so many great organizations and community groups and we look forward to working with everyone.”

Through Burbio, East Brunswick Township, schools, and organizations will have a united platform to build exposure for their events.  Department on Aging and Senior Center events are limited to registered members, who must be at least 60 years and current East Brunswick residents.  These events may be listed on the department’s facebook page, at https://www.facebook.com/East-Brunswick-Department-on-Aging-1017474491738453/, but require advance registration.  Please contact the Department on Aging for information about becoming a member or to register for any of the diverse programs and services offered.
