BELMAR/LAKE COMO, NJ — TAPinto Belmar/Lake Como, the only independent news operation dedicated solely to covering both communities, set a single-month record for readership in March.

The 75 percent increase in readership — to nearly 90,000 pageviews — is directly attributed to the news site’s coronavirus coverage, as it continues to provide daily news on how the virus is affecting the Belmar and Lake Como communities.

In addition, TAPinto Belmar/Lake Como had nearly 45,000 individual users who visited the site in March, climbing from 28,000 in February — and making the news site one of the most-read among the entire TAPinto news network of more than 80 hyperlocal sites in three states.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

“This overwhelming increase in readership demonstrates that residents and businesses in Belmar and Lake Como are relying on TAPinto as a main source of accurate information, particularly at this uncertain time in everyone’s life,” said Cathy Goetz, editor and publisher of TAPinto Belmar/Lake Como. “We appreciate the trust that both towns have in our news site. It is a responsibility we take extremely seriously.”

Overall, TAPinto’s network of more than 80 local news sites in New Jersey, New York and Florida broke all readership records in March with 9.6 million pageviews and 3.4 million readers, an increase of 300 percent from February.
