The earthquake in Haiti was devastating to residents, resulting in a world-wide call for assistance. People all over the world sent financial assistance. Members of Israel's volunteer disaster relief crew immediately set off to the island to provide assistance. And a member of Congregation B'nai Jeshurun visited the island to offer his emergency experience.
Todd Abrams of Short Hills, a long time member of Congregation B'nai Jeshurun and the Short Hills/Millburn First Aid Squad spent two weeks in Haiti during April. Project Medishare for Haiti, an organization which has aided the Haitian people since 1994, facilitated his visit. Mr. Abrams worked at a hospital at the Part Au Prince airport which provided medical care to residents of the area.
Members of the community are invited to hear details of the visit when Mr. Abrams gives the sermon to the congregation on Friday, July 30th at 5:30 pm during Erev Shabbat services.
