On Sunday, May 22nd members of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills will join together for the Annual Mitzvah Day beginning at 9:30 am.
Participants will have the opportunity to work on projects which benefit others in our community.  At the Mitzvah Factory early childhood age children will take their first steps toward understanding the goal of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world.  Mitzvah Makers, adult good-deed-doers, will make quilts, knit scarves, sort all the donations of clothing and food previously brought to the Temple.  For the first time one of the Mitzvah Day projects is the opportunity to donate blood to the New Jersey Blood Bank, which will be in residence until 1:30 pm.  (Please check the organizations website for limitations and instructions.)  Taking care of our environment is also a mitzvah.  The off-site projects include cleanup are area parks, as well as entertaining residents of local nursing facilities.
The Mitzvah Day activities will be followed by the Annual Brotherhood BBQ & Brunch —this year including pancakes too!  The cost for lunch is $5 per person and $10 per family.
