The Westfield Public School District’s technology initiative is visibly in progress this summer as many upgrades are underway.
“To improve teacher and student online connections to the internet and to one another, we have installed new WiFi access points in every classroom at Westfield High School, and increased the number of them throughout the building,” stated Chief Technology Officer Brian Auker. “All of our network switches have been replaced to support these faster access points,” he explained.
Technicians also have been busy upgrading computers in the district and adding more backup power for stored data, as well as file, phone and e-mail servers. Virtualization of servers is scheduled for this fall as well as new laptop carts for the schools.
