Teen Zumba Offered at the Madison Area YMCA

The Madison Area YMCA is pleased to offer Teen Zumba for 10 to15-year-olds on Mondays from 6 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. for six weeks starting Monday, April 8.

Classes feature easy-to-follow dances moves and body beautifying benefits with infectious music. Cross-trainer sneakers or dance shoes/sneakers are highly recommended. Running shoes/sneakers are not recommended. Socks without shoes or bare feet are not permitted.

Teen Zumba is free for members. Pre-registration is required.

Other teen programming is available: The Teen Center at the Madison Area YMCA is a safe and fun place for teens in 6th-12th grade to come after school. The Teen Center has space to do homework, is a great place to hang out with friends and has comfortable couches, video games and cable TV. Teen Scene is the Madison Area YMCA’s weekly Friday night program for 6th-8th graders. Activities include movies, full use of the Teen Center, swimming, games all supervised by the Y’s Teen Staff, with curb side drop-off and pick-up. Teens and parents must fill out a one-time waiver to participate.

Teen Leaders Club at the Madison Area YMCA is part of a national initiative to promote the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility that will develop a solid character in each individual and create a supportive community environment, inclusive of all people. Take part in an amazing opportunity for junior and high school-age teens to get together for peer leadership training, community service projects and other activities including trips, rallies and special events. Join us in shaping our future while having fun. The Center is also headquarters for the Y’s Teen Leaders Club.

The Seventh Grade Initiative at the Madison Area YMCA provides seventh graders who live or go to school in the Madison Area YMCA’s service area a free limited membership, visits to the Teen Scene and an opportunity to be part of the Teen Leaders Club. The Madison Area YMCA joins Ys around the country in offering this 7th grade initiative that includes free limited membership and special programs, with fun activities and events that promote healthy lifestyles, teamwork and leadership skills. The limited membership is available to 7th graders who attend school or live in Madison, Chatham, Convent Station, East Hanover, Florham Park, Gillette, Green Village, Harding Township, Millington, New Vernon and Stirling.

Chatham Players to Hold Auditions for Ken Ludwig’s “Moon Over Buffalo”

The Chatham Players will hold auditions for Ken Ludwig’s “Moon Over Buffalo” on Tuesday, December 27th and 28th at 7:30pm. All auditions will occur at The Chatham Playhouse 23 North Passaic Ave.  Production dates are February 24 thru March 11, 2017 with rehearsals to begin early January.
