EDISON, NJ — Edison’s most-popular and best-attended annual community event: The 2014 Fall Family Spectacular will be held from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 along an eight-block stretch of Amboy Avenue in the Clara Barton section of town.
This year’s event will feature well-known recording artists performing music to suit all tastes and ages, classic cars and motorcycles, strolling performers, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, games of chance, dance troupes and professional wrestlers. There will also be a variety of foods from around the world as well as an assortment of craft vendors and exhibitors.
“This really is Edison’s most spectacular public event,” said Mayor Lankey. “It’s a wonderful day for parents and children, and for old and young to experience community camaraderie in the heart of our town.”
Opening ceremonies begin at 1 p.m. on the Main Stage with 18-year-old country music artist Madeline Smith performing the National Anthem followed by remarks from Mayor Lankey and other local and county dignitaries.
The lead performance will be by The Madeline Smith Band on Main Stage followed by “The Shaq Daddy Show” and “Miranda Writes,” two separate hip hop artists; “The Finns,” a rock-blues band; and “The E Street Shuffle,” a Bruce Springsteen Tribute Show. The festival also welcomes back the classic Jersey Shore rock sound of New Jersey legend “John Eddie.”
Performing on the Local Stage will be “The Glen Dowd Project, Trash Mavericks, Living Tradition, and Black Cat Bone” along with local dancers from the Star Essence Performing Arts Academy as well as a DJ and other entertainers.
There is still time for food vendors, craft vendors, exhibitors and classic car owners to sign-up to participate in the Fall Family Spectacular. For more information, contact the Edison Recreation Department at (732) 248-7312 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
