Vacation Plans Washed Away?
Try a Weekend of Music!
The end of August is the sweetest get-away time of the year, but many of our vacation dreams were dashed by the wind and rain of Hurricane Irene. Here’s a fun and economical getaway to make up for those good times you lost: an early fall Weekend of Music. It’s a 200-guest retreat in rural North Jersey that features food and lodging, three big concerts, master classes, listener workshops, family activities, and lots of jam sessions in a casual and friendly atmosphere. From Friday evening, September 30th through Sunday afternoon, October 2nd, this jam-packed event is designed to entertain lovers and makers of acoustic music. And it’s weatherproof!!
Performers and workshop leaders include international personalities, such as singing comedienne Christine Lavin and bluegrass/jazz guitar pioneer John Carlini, and many national and local acoustic stars. The nonprofit Folk Project’s fall “festival” is an astounding value, a Jersey treasure, and it just might make up for that vacation you spent mopping the cellar. Day passes are also available by pre-registration only. For information or reservations, go to www.folkproject.org/festival or call 201-207-8696.
