The NFL Comes to Roselle to Score Points for Kids

ROSELLE, NJ - The NFL vs Roselle “Scoring Points for Kids” basketball fundraiser took place on Saturday May 3, 2014 at the Abraham Clark High School Gym in Roselle. Special assemblies with Roselle students took place in the schools days prior to the event, teaching students about the value of staying in school and getting good grades to prepare themselves for college and the importance of getting a college education.

The program run by Lonnie Allgood, former NFL Player, works with youth in the schools promoting staying in school and working toward getting a college education. Saturdays program was put together by Mr. Allgoods organization and the hard work of the Roselle Police Department.

NFL Stars came out to play various teams including Roselle Fire, Police, Veterans and Students. The event featured a basketball game with NFL Players Joey Porter (Oakland Raiders), Chad Plummer (Colts), Barrette Brooks (Steelers), Mike Campbell (Jets), Kareem Huggins (Jets), Tony Logan (Patriots) against the different teams from the community. The Roselle Fire Department were the first to take to the court, followed by Roselle Veterans and other teams including the youth.

The event also hosted a VIP Session to “Meet the Pros” and get pictures and autographs, and special reserved game seating behind the players.

Raffles, silent auction, and a tricky tray were held to help raise funds for the project. Students were honored for essay writings with proclamations given two outstanding students by Borough Counsel Woman At Large Christine Dansereau.

This event was sponsored by Roselle Schools, Borough of Roselle, Roselle Police Department who were instrumental in making the event a become a reality, and Lonni Allgoods “Dreams for Kids” organization.

Roselle Releases Garbage and Recycling Schedule for 2017

ROSELLE, NJ - The officials from the Roselle Department of Public Works (DPW), released the Garbage and Recycling schedule for 2017. 

The schedule shows no bulk pick up for the entire month of January. Bulk trash for the East Side will be the first Wednesday of the month and West Side will be the third Wednesday of the month.
