ORANGE, NJ - The STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges (SIAO), a model high school of the Orange Board of Education is hosting business professionals at the STEM school for a Lunch N Learn event on Thursday May 17, 2018. The business lunch speaker’s series highlights STEM professionals sharing information about STEM related industries and professional occupations. The keynote speaker for the event will be architect Bruce Arthur, Senior Project Manager at New York-based HOK. Bruce manages teams across seven HOK offices. His teams develop complex projects in the areas of Healthcare and Science and Technology. Bruce has a special closeness to Orange as he grew up in Orange and attended the Orange school system. Also invited to participate are a mix of business professionals to provide networking experiences and opportunities for SIAO students.
SIAO is a new initiative of the Orange Board of Education to develop a model high school STEM education program that creates a pathway for the transition of scholars from secondary education to college and industry careers. The SIAO provide students with a unique opportunity to learn and share experiences that will enhance not only their education but their lives. At its core, the SIAO will help to change the perception and The Color of STEM among young scholars of color.
SIAO students will Learn to Network. Invited to participate in the Lunch-N-Learn events will be business professionals to provide networking experiences and opportunities for SIAO students. The engagement with professionals who will share special insights that they have learned through their years of STEM jobs and will answer questions that are relevant for our students. Lunch will be served as a business meal to create a professional environment that closely replicates a real-world experience. Business professionals will represent multiple industries, including Energy, Chemistry, Planning, data Science, transportation and engineering
