TheAlternativePress.com Announces Licensing Agreements for its Millburn/Short Hills, South Orange, and Maplewood Sites With Respected Local Residents, Shannon Aronson and David Lackey

February 4, 2013 at 7:59 AM

TheAlternativePress.com (TAP) is pleased to announce that three of its existing sites -- Maplewood, Millburn/Short Hills, and South Orange, New Jersey -- have been licensed to David Lackey of South Orange and Shannon Aronson of Short Hills (working together).  Both are long-time residents of their respective towns.  Aronson is also a real estate agent with Keller Williams and an active member of the Millburn/Short Hills Chamber of Commerce.  Lackey was active in local government in South Orange and a former candidate for the board of trustees there.

"I am really excited to begin serving these communities in a new way. Our goal is to provide accurate and timely information to local residents, while also enabling local businesses to reach their best prospects," Lackey said.

These latest licensing agreements are in keeping with TheAlternativePress.com's goal to locate local residents who are qualified and invested in keeping local residents informed of local news, sports, entertainment, and events, while also ensuring that local businesses who promote their products and services to a purely local audience, will prosper and grow. These professional business people are well-known and respected in their own communities, and who want to ensure the prosperity of their own towns, while forging a comfortable, exciting and involved local lifestyle for themselves and their families.

Aronson, who takes great pride in her community and being involved in so much of what goes on here, said, "I am thrilled to be associated with TAP, and believe that they have been providing great hyperlocal news coverage and are a tremendous asset to the community."

According to TAP founder and CEO Michael Shapiro, "We are excited that our licensing concept is so well received. We have been answering calls from potential licensees in new towns throughout the tri-state area, but also from folks in Texas, California and Florida.  We offer a turn key business to qualified licensees, all the back-end support and daily operations are taken care of." Shapiro's co-owner and wife Lauryn adds, "It's gratifying to have developed a platform that allows so many others to build a business that is profitable, simple to run, and offers a quality of life that is hard to replicate elsewhere. Much of every dollar made by our licensees goes right back into the community. And we never allow national advertisers who compete with local businesses to promote themselves on TheAlternativePress.com, as other hyperlocals do, because we stand with our local businesses in our towns. We are all about local helping local"

The Alternative Press was founded in 2008 and is the first all-online newspaper to receive accreditation by the New Jersey Press Association.

TheAlternativePress.com serves sixteen communities and the entire County of Sussex in New Jersey by providing objective, daily, in-depth hyperlocal news and information, covering everything from town council meetings to high school sports and everything in between. Two new sections were recently added; Real Estate, and Giving Back, which provides a platform for non-profits and community organizations to promote themselves at no charge. Coverage began in 2008 in New Providence, Berkeley Heights, and Summit, New Jersey, and continues to grow.

My Epic Beauty Fails

One day as I was looking around a high-end cosmetics store for a new lipstick, a “beauty expert” approached me and said that I was so stunning I should forget the lipstick, and get a lip plumper instead. Which is Best: Lump Sum or Pension Annuity?

Is a lump sum offer from an employer a better choice than a pension annuity for life? The former provides an immediate up-front amount (say $300,000), but the pension annuity gives you a stream of payments for life (example: $1,350 per month). A number of employers dangle a lump sum offer to employees in part to remove future liabilities from their balance sheets. It’s tempting for ...
