Thefts from Cars in Fanwood Continues

August 13, 2013 at 2:13 PM

FANWOOD, NJ - Fanwood Police Chief Trigo has again issued a written warning to residents regarding thefts from unlocked vehicles Fanwood, after receiving many more complaints over the weekend of missing items.

“Fanwood is a safe area but residents still need to be responsible and careful and they need to lock their doors,” Chief Trigo said.  "This sort of thing happens sporadically in suburban areas."  He clarified that, although these are termed break ins because property was stolen, there were no actual breaking into the cars; the doors were all unlocked, allowing easy access.

Residents are encouraged to contact the Fanwood Police Department immediately if they should observe any suspicious persons, vehicles or activity.

"If people would just lock their cars, this would not be happening," Chief Trigo concluded.
