SUMMIT, NJ - They were playing at the same time, each on their home turf less than a mile apart, both under skies that threatened an electrical storm and heavy rain.

Turns out the elements were the only things that threatened the Summit High School Girls and Boys Varsity Lacrosse teams, as each overpowered their opponents to reach their respective sectional finals.
The Girls Varsity defeated traditional rival Chatham, 16-8 at the Upper Turf Field.  They will next face Rumson on May 28, also at home.  The game is tentatively set for 4 p.m.

The Boys Varsity thumped Lakeland 13-3, setting up a May 24 match-up versus Northern Highlands, who beat Chatham in 5-4 overtime.  Face-off time at Investors Bank Field has not yet been set, however a Noon start is likely.
