CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Teachers and school staff in Coral Springs and across Florida -- regardless of age -- are now eligible for the Covid-19 vaccines under federal guidelines, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday.

New federal guidelines outlined by President Joe Biden allow daycare workers, preschool teachers, and educators in elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools to be vaccinated with no age limit.

Earlier in the week, DeSantis signed an executive order allowing only school staff ages 50 and older to receive the vaccine.

As of Thursday, here’s who can get vaccinated in Florida:

--- Long-term care facility residents and staff

--- People 65 years or older

--- Health care personnel with direct patient contact

--- K-12 school employees

--- Sworn law enforcement officers 50 years and older

--- Firefighters 50 years and older

In addition to hospital medical staffs, physicians may approve vaccinations for patients who are extremely vulnerable to the coronavirus.

If you are under the age of 65 and meet the criteria defined by the Florida Department of Health as someone who is “extremely vulnerable” to Covid-19, you must complete this form and have it signed by your physician: FDH Form
