The Torey J Sabatini Elementary School PTO will be presenting “Jokes –n- Notes,” an adult social, on Saturday, February 11 from 7:00 to 11:00 pm at Grace Episcopal Church, Madison. In addition to a live music by local rock band Kings Road, a comedy set, hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and silent auction will be featured.
“We are happy to have some of our present TJS parents performing as the headliner band for our fourth annual adult social fundraiser, as well as a former alumni of the school as the headliner comedian,” stated Gretchen Sinha, event chair. “The public is invited to attend the event, with music entertainment beginning at 7:00 pm, featuring acoustic selections by Kathleen Wallace, a second grade teacher at TJS, followed by Kings Road, a local Madison rock band, and then the comedy set,” she added.
Kings Road band members include Roy Fertakos (bass), Johanna Habib (keyboards), Michael O’Keefe (guitar), Val Schuszler (lead guitar), and Chris Wolfe (drums). All members contribute on vocals. The band plays a unique blend of classic and alternative rock, often inviting other local musicians to join them onstage. For more information on Kings Road, please contact email@example.com.
Kate Hendricks (Bravo TV!, VH1), a TJS graduate and former Madison resident, will be the headliner for the comedy set and she will be joined by comedians Mark Normand (Comedy Central’s Comics to Watch) and Nick Cobb (Last Comic Standing), with Jared Freid hosting (TruTV, Brobile.com). For more information on Hendricks, she can be followed on Twitter @katethewasp or at her website, katethewasp.tumblr.com.
Many unique silent auction items will be available for guests to bid on, including many one-of-a-kind experiences such as vacation spots, golf outings, an exquisite Tiffany necklace, and “kids art” designed by the graduating fifth grade class. Some additional items include exclusive concert tickets from New York City classic rock station Q104.3, a skating and lunch outing with Olympian JoJo Starbuck, tickets to the Rachel Ray Show, tickets to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and more. In addition, an assortment of teacher outings, where students have the opportunity to spend time with their favorite faculty member, will be auctioned.
Chef Loryn of Madison is providing the night’s hors d-oeuvres and a cash bar will be available for wine and beer.
Past TJS PTO events have enabled the organization to support the school by bringing in guest speakers for enrichment programs, purchasing smartboards for use in the classrooms, installing a rock wall for use in physical education classes, putting in new stage curtains and an audio system in the auditorium, adding playground equipment, purchasing new computers for the computer lab, and supporting the teachers and students on a regular basis with other on-going needs.
Tickets are $55 per person in advance and $65 at the door and may be ordered by contacting Leslie Metzler at 973-320-5905 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Additionally, tickets can be purchased online at www.TJSAdultSocial.org. For general questions, please contact Gretchen Sinha at email@example.com
