ROSELAND, NJ - Tonight, Wednesday, December 12th, the BRAVO Alliance of Performing Artists will be presenting “Christmas In and Around the World: An Extraordinary Christmas Concert” at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church on Livingston Avenue, in Roseland. The Alliance will be joined by the choir of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church under the direction of Don Pennell.
BRAVO began in 2009 as a non-profit organization and, according to their website, “has consistently produced high-quality concerts including classic opera repertoire and theater.”
David Maiullo, Musical Director of the Bravo Alliance of Performing Artists, works throughout the Metropolitan area as both an accompanist and musical coach. He’s performed in over 2500 recitals in concert halls throughout the United States as well as in venues in Europe and Japan. According to the BRAVO website, Maiullo has “held the position of Chorus Master for the New Jersey State Opera for eight seasons and he continues to be a lecturer and pianist for operalogs and concerts with the company.” Director Maiullo is also currently the Musical Director of the Chamber Virtuosi Orchestra and the Music Director of the Church of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Franklin Lakes.
Performing in tonight’s concert will be the accomplished tenor, Brian Ernstes. Ernestes recognitions include winning the New York City Mario Lanza Competition, the New Jersey State Opera Vocal Competition, the Leiderkranz Competition and he was also a national finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Vocal Competition. Ernested is a frequent soloist at the New Jersey State Opera Guild Concerts.
Soprano Justyna Giermola will also be a vocalist at tonight’s Roseland concert. Giermola debuted at the Polish National Opera House in Warsaw, Poland, and went on to perform with the Italian International Institute of Vocal Arts and after coming to the US, she has appeared with the Garden State Opera Company. Giermola was the First Place winner of the Marcella Sembrich Competition, a finalist in the Florham Violetta Dupont Vocal Competition, and a semi-finalist in the International Stanislaw Moniuszko Vocal Competition.
Sure to bring levity to the BRAVO concert will be baritone, Adelmo Guidarelli, who is nicknamed “The Clown Prince of Opera.” He has performed throughout Europe, including in The Vatican before Pope John Paul II, and in London before Queen Elizabeth. He is also an accomplished recording artists and a voting member of The Recording Academy, as well as an annual participant at the Grammy Awards. Guidarelli has worked with such operatic legends as, Lucianno Pavarotti, Gulietta Simionato, Licia Albanese, Sherrill Milnes and Robert Merrill.
Phyllis Healy-Sova, a member of BRAVO’s Advisory Board, commented: “We know this is going to be a truly memorable evening. The stellar vocalists combined with the outstanding choir from Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament will be a wonderful collaboration! We hope everyone gives themselves this gift of an enjoyable evening out.”
