Total Health Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center Loses Part Of Their Family With The Passing Of Dr. Michael Carbone

KINNELON, NJ - Dr. Michael G. Carbone, DC, DAAPM, age 42 of Kinnelon passed peacefully at home, surrounded with the comfort of family, on Thursday, April 17, 2014.

Michael was born and raised in Pequannock, the second oldest of five boys. He graduated from Pequannock Township High School with the Class of 1989 having had an extremely successful wrestling career during his high school years. Michael's name can still be found as a wrestling record holder at the school. While in middle school in the township, he and his four brothers started a lawn care business called 5C's Landscaping which is still in operation today.

Michael received his Bachelor's Degree from The College of New Jersey (Trenton State College) in 1992 where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, MO having graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1996. Dr. Carbone holds a certificate issued by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Some of his post-graduate achievements include receiving his Diplomat from the American Academy of Pain Management, he is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Medicine Specialist, and he received his Certification in Electrodiagnostics from the New Jersey Board of Chiropractic and the American Association Of Sensory Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Other certifications include Manipulation Under Anesthesia and the treatment of repetitive trauma disorders.

Dr. Carbone earned Chiropractic Licenses in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ohio. He was an active member of the American Academy of Pain Management, the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors, and the American Chiropractic Association.

In 1997 Dr. Carbone opened Carbone Chiropractic Center in Florham Park, NJ. He later transformed it into a multi-disciplinary center in 1999 now known as Total Health Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center. In 2001, Michael opened multiple practices in Ohio with a longtime friend and colleague. In 2010 he acquired a chiropractic office in Berkeley Heights, NJ which he developed into another multi-disciplinary care center, Peak Medical. He always cared for his patients with his heart and was quoted as saying, “My highest mission is to provide compassionate care in a nurturing environment.” Michael was always trying to improve himself and had a passion for healing and inspiring.

Dr. Carbone enjoyed traveling with his family, boating, all kinds of water activities at the family lake house, personal fitness, yoga, reading, learning, and meditation. In the last 3 years Michael completed a Tough Mudder, a half-marathon and several 5K's.

Since grade school Michael was friends with his wife, Alison. They began officially dating during their junior year of high school and soon fell in love. Michael proposed to Alison at Greenview Park in Pequannock and they married on December 23, 1994 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pompton Plains. Their reception was at the Hilton at Short Hills. They honeymooned in the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. John and have enjoyed a loving and devoted marriage of twenty years.

Michael was the loving husband of Alison (Sebzda) Carbone; devoted father of Michael George II and Alexandra Marie Carbone; cherished son of Marta and the late John J. Carbone (August 2013); loved brother of John J. Carbone, Jr. and his wife Debbie, Christopher C. Carbone and his wife Amy, Joseph P. Carbone and his wife Kristin, and Demetro D. Carbone and his wife Kim. He was truly loved by his ten nieces and seven nephews.

Friends may visit with the family from 3-8 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.

A 10:30 AM Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church, 155 W. Parkway, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444.

Interment will be in the First Reformed Church Cemetery, 529 Newark Pompton Tpke. Pompton Plains.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Voices Against Brain Cancer, 1375 Broadway, 3rd Floor, NY, NY 10018 would be appreciated.
