SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Town Hall Delicatessen, South Orange’s esteemed purveyor of Sloppy Joe sandwiches, re-opened at its new location at 74 First St. on Monday.

The place was packed at lunchtime and everyone seemed excited to welcome back an old favorite.

“We have the same recipes, the same cooks…It’s the same Town Hall Deli,” said Matt Wonski, son of owner, Tony Wonski.  “Although we are featuring a couple new items, like Archie’s ‘Town Hall’s Own’ Cheesecake.”

The former spot for the deli at 60 Valley St. is becoming a 7-Eleven convenience store, and looks to be almost ready to open as well.

Locals have been without Town Hall delicacies since March and are pleased to have them back in business.

“I’m ecstatic,” said customer Tom Vilardi, who was getting lunch with his daughter and her friend. “I’m really happy they are open again.  I do everything I can to help support local businesses.”

Wonski said they are not planning any type of grand re-opening celebraton, but are happy to bring back the food that locals have been enjoying since 1927.
