EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - At the Oct. 14 Township Council meeting, East Brunswick Mayor David Stahl announced that the township and the Turnpike Authority have reached agreement on the construction of a barrier wall between the New Jersey Turnpike Interchange 9, Route 18 and Westons Mill Road.
The topic of a wall has been a source of contention between the Turnpike Authority and the residents of the Lawrence Brook community ever since the plans to expand interchange nine and surrounding exits and entrances were announced.
Under the agreement, the township and the Turnpike have agreed to a cost sharing arrangement in order to enable the construction and erection of a sound and asthetic barrier long requested. Engineers representing both the township and the Turnpike Authority are currently developing the plans for the design of the wall, and it is expected that the plans will be presented at the Township Council meeting in early November.
