EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The annual reorganization meeting of the East Brunswick Township Council was held Monday night at the Civic Center. During the meeting, Councilwoman Camille Ferraro was elected to a one-year term as president of the council, while Councilwoman Denise Contrino was elected to a one year term as vice-president.
The other main highlight of the evening was a tribute to outgoing Councilwoman Nancy Pinkin, who was celebrating her last day as a council member before ascending to the New Jersey State Assembly seat she was elected to. Pinkin was sworn in as Assemblywoman earlier today. Tributes during the Council Meeting's Public Portion came from many community leaders, among them East Brunswick Democratic Organization member David Lonski, as well as former Mayor William Neary. All speakers were effusive in their praise for Pinkin, and were universal in their optimistic expectations on the job she is expected to do for the 18th district while in Trenton.
Among other items on the consent agenda was an approval to adopt the municpal report related to year two of the current cable television contract, approvals of assignments of township committees for council members, and approvals of the council calendar for 2014.
