Township Manager William Close and Firefighter John Whitley Introduced at Sparta Township Council Meeting

SPARTA, NJ - There were two new faces introduced to the public at the Sparta Township Council meeting on Tuesday night. Fire Chief Craig Wilson introduced the newest member of the Sparta Fire Department, newly appointed Firefighter John Whitley. 

New Township Manager William Close attended his first public town council meeting. Close had been the business administrator of Dover before coming to Sparta. He has 30 years of experience in the position. Close received his Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Public Administration from North Carolina State University. Interim manager Steve Levinson served Sparta for six months following the departure of previous manager David Troast. 

Sparta resident Joanne Scally came to the microphone during the public comment portion of the agenda to address Close saying, "Welcome to Sparta."
