NEW BRUNSWICK – Where did February go? This week is the last full week of February which technically means we are halfway through winter. Don’t let winter get away without enjoying a night at the State Theatre New Jersey or enjoying a Rutgers basketball game at the RAC. Check out the list of events going on in and around the Hub City and start marking your calendar!

Monday, Feb. 18
Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild Live 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. 
Where: State Theatre New Jersey

A show for animal lovers of all ages! America’s most beloved animal expert, Jack Hanna, brings his Emmy Award®-winning television series to the stage with Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild Live! In this awe-inspiring event, Jungle Jack will introduce you to some of the world’s spectacular animals. Jack will also share humorous stories and amazing exclusive footage from his worldwide adventures. From the jungles of Rwanda to savannas of Australia, Jack has explored the corners of the globe as one of the most visible and respected animal ambassadors. RU1st Forum 9 a.m. – Noon
Where: College Avenue Student Center

A panel of national experts will speak on the affairs of first-generation students and services that support this population. Attendees will learn best practices to help facilitate retention and four-year graduation rates of students who are first-generation, low-income, and/or underrepresented.

Tuesday, Feb. 19
The History of Diners in New Jersey 4-6 p.m.
Where: Alexander Library, College Avenue

Garden State author Michael C. Gabriele will present a program on “The History of Diners in New Jersey” in the Remigio U. Pane Room, located on the first floor of the Alexander Library. The program will begin at 4 p.m. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited to attend.

Wednesday, Feb. 20
Teen Zone 3-5 p.m.
Where: New Brunswick Public Library

Teen Zone is a program for teens in grades 7 through 12 to hang out and try different activities in the library. This is a free event.

Thursday, Feb. 21
Creating Conference Posters in Powerpoint 9:45 a.m.-11:15 a.m.
Where: College Avenue

This workshop explores how to create posters by using PowerPoint tools. The focus of this workshop will be adjusting slides to poster dimensions, adding and managing text and bullets, images, charts, tables, and other poster content.

Thursday, Feb. 21
Graduate Education Preparation Summit 6-8 p.m.
Where: Livingston Campus

Interested in graduate school and not sure where to start? Join us to learn more about the graduate school application process! Dr. James H. Whitney III will host an interactive workshop to share tips and strategies on how to master the application process.

Friday, Feb. 22
2019 United States Super 8 Film & Digital Video Festival 7 p.m.
Where: Voorhees Hall, Rutgers University

View the winning films and digital videos of the International U.S. Super 8 Film & Digital Video Festival, selected by a jury of filmmakers, Rutgers University students, and media professionals. The festival--now in its 31st year-will feature finalist works by independent filmmakers from the United States and around the world. Prize winners will be announced after the screening, in a competition for prizes, along with the Audience Favorite Prize. Approx. 120 min. A complete festival line-up will be listed on our website by February 1, 2019.

NY Kings Comedy Tour Friday: 7:30 p.m. & 9:45 p.m. and Saturday: 7:00 p.m., 9:15 p.m. & 11:30 p.m.
Where: Stress Factory

Nothing like a laugh after a long work week. Head on over to the Stress Factory and see the very funny NY Kings Comedy Tour. There are multiple days and showings if you can’t make a certain time.

Where: Hale Center and High Point Solutions Stadium

Looking for some fresh air? Cheer on the Rutgers Men’s Lacrosse Team as they take on Loyola University Maryland. There will be a t-shirt giveaway too!

Saturday, Feb. 23
The John Mellencamp Show 8 p.m.
Where: State Theatre New Jersey

See John Mellencamp live in concert at the State Theatre! Set to coincide with a highly anticipated new album release, Mellencamp will embark on a 2019 tour of “The John Mellencamp Show” which will feature the rock icon’s classics such as "Jack and Diane," "Hurts So Good," "Pink Houses," "Small Town," and "Authority Song," plus some new material. 

Mellencamp’s live shows have garnered huge critical acclaim with the Hollywood Reporter calling it a “triumphant, career-spanning show” and a “superb performance…still full of fiery defiance” by the Boston Globe. Additionally, he was recently inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this past June.

Czech National Symphony Orchestra 3 p.m.
Where: State Theatre New Jersey

The Czech National Symphony Orchestra (CNSO) with Grammy Award®-winning Mezzo-Soprano Isabel Leonard, led by Conductor John Mauceri, will celebrate the legacy of Leonard Bernstein with a program of "100 Years of Leonard Bernstein.” Mauceri, mentee and conducting fellow with Leonard Bernstein himself, who conducted the world premiere of Bernstein's “A Quiet Place,” and Isabel Leonard, critically acclaimed for her performances of Bernstein repertoire, join CNSO in a glorious marking of the world-renowned American composer, conductor, and pianist's 100th birthday celebration.
