SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Two area men have been charged with assault after police said they attacked an individual on Vose Avenue at 5:15 p.m. on May 21.
Arrested were Kevin Fenelus, 19, of South Orange, and Jamil Holloway, 18, of Maplewood. Police said both were arrested at the scene of the incident.
On May 20, a 29-year-old Larksville, Pa., resident was arrested at 1:35 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence after police said her vehicle struck a building on Village Plaza and she fled from the scene. Tamika Russell was located on Lindsley Avenue along with her vehicle, which had suffered extensive damage, according to police.
In other police news:
- Several thefts were reported to South Orange police. A South Kingman Road resident told police that sometime overnight on May 23 someone stole an iPod from her unlocked vehicle. A 15-year-old middle school student told police that on May 20, his cell phone was stolen from his bag after he left it unattended in the hallway.
Yet another Honda owner was the victim of tire thieves. A South Orange resident reported that someone stole all four wheels from his 2012 Honda after he left it parked on Milligan Place overnight on May 19. Also on May 19, a Milligan Place resident said someone broke the passenger side window of her vehicle and removed parts of the interior, along with the vehicle registration and insurance card.
- Police are searching for two black males in their late teens who robbed a Newark resident at 7:30 p.m. on May 19 as he was walking on Wilden Place. The victim told police one of the men showed him a handgun tucked in his waistband.
One robber is described as 5-foot-10, with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and had a black bandana around his face. The second is described as 5-foot-7, also wearing a black hooded sweatshirt but with a red bandana around his face. The property stolen from the victim was not specified by police.
