Mr. Calmes earned degrees in Classic Guitar Performance from California State University, Northridge; University of Southern California and the Juilliard School. He debuted at Carnegie Recital Hall as Winner of the Artists International Competition. He teaches at Wall High School.

On Saturday, May 19 at 2 p.m., the Silvertones, one of New Jersey’s finest flute ensembles, will play a diverse repertoire of music for flutes of all sizes. They’ll present folk songs, jazz standards and chamber pieces.

Selections include “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and a medley of other recognizable songs such as “Oh, Susanna,” and “Shenandoah.” This group of musicians—doctors, teachers and public servants by day—including Youth Services Librarian Mandy Richards—has performed concerts at libraries, Hadassah fundraisers, churches and community centers. The Silvertones is composed of the piccolo, C flute, alto flute, bass flute and contrabass.

The TGIF! Flute and Guitar concert is open to all. The Silvertones program is open to Westfield Memorial Library and MURAL cardholders.
