HAWTHORNE, NJ - When a 2005 Nissan crashed into the side of Bella Fig Restaurant on Lincoln Avenue, the Hawthorne Police department said that the driver and passenger, identified as Hommy Colon, 40, and Tywuan Lopez, 42, both from Paterson, allegedly ran from the scene of the devastating collision which smashed the side of the restaurant.
The two men reportedly fled to a house on Passaic Avenue when the police arrived. The Hawthorne Police Department said that Lopez went outside and turned himself in to the police, while Colon "had to be assisted out of the house" by police, having refused to surrender himself.
When the police searched the wrecked vehicle, they said that a number of narcotics were found, including needles both capped and uncapped, marijuana, crack-cocaine, and heroin. Both Colon and Lopez were placed under arrest and processed at the police headquarters, issued with a multitude of charges. The men were transported to the Passaic County Jail, to await a Central Judiciary Processing court date.
