NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Two New Brunswick public schools communication initiatives were recently recognized by the New Jersey School Public Relations Association.

A photograph of an assembly at McKinley Community School taken by district staff member, IT Support Specialist Eshaya Draper received a second-place trophy in the annual competition’s Photo category. The person pictured in the photo is Lee Neamand, the district’s Director of Basic Skills and Compensatory Education.

And, a comprehensive overview video, complete with music recorded by the district’s jazz band, was awarded third place in the Video category. Narrated by students and featuring footage of classrooms and the local community, the video was produced by Draper and Dorenia Villalona, assistant to the superintendent.

The NJSPRA received a total of 64 entries for the competition, from 34 school districts. Submissions were reviewed by 11 judges from four different states, including practicing communication professionals and professors.
