PATERSON, NJ - Two robberies took place at almost simultaneous moments Wednesday night in the city, although they appear to be completely unconnected to one another.
At 10:30 p.m. on the corner of Burhans and Temple streets, a 35-year-old city man was walking on the sidewalk when a black man approached him from behind with a handgun and threatened him. The suspect stole the victim's cash, wallet and cell phone before running off, according to Lt. Bert Ribeiro.
At the same time in another part of town, an Asian male landlord from Wayne was at an apartment building he owns in the 400 block of 21st Avenue to collect rent money when two masked suspects, one of them pointing a knife at the victim, stole the man's cash.
Both incidents are still under investigation.
