Here’s some news about Special Olympics.
Special Olympics New Jersey returns to the Wildwoods Convention Center for two wintertime events to kick-off 2011 in the Wildwoods.
First, the 2011 State Floor Hockey Tournament will return to the Convention Center Saturday, January 8 and Sunday, January 9. Floor Hockey teams from across New Jersey will compete starting at noon on Saturday with awards to be given out on Sunday as competition is completed in each division.
The entire event is free and open to the public, and the community is encouraged to come out and cheer on these special athletes and take the opportunity to learn about Special Olympics.

Later in the month, on Saturday, January 15, the New Jersey Law Enforcement Torch Run, the State Fraternal Order of Police and the Wildwoods Convention Center present the 5th Annual Wildwoods Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics New Jersey taking place on the beach outside the Wildwoods Convention Center with indoor facilities for changing and registration and plenty of hot tubs.. .

To participate, Plungers must raise a minimum of $100 to take a dip in the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean behind the Wildwoods Convention Center – with all proceeds benefiting Special Olympics New Jersey. All Plungers receive fundraising incentives and admission to the post-Plunge lunch. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the Plunge takes place at 1 p.m. Plungers can sign up online at www.njpolarplunge.org or sign-up on site.
