Two Victims Critical After Alois Place Shooting Thursday Night

PATERSON, NJ - Two city men were in critical condition after being shot Thursday night near the entrance of the Riverside housing development.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray, shortly before 9:30 p.m. a 26-year-old male was grazed by a gunshot in the right side of his head and also suffered gunshot wounds to his hand and leg, and a 19-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen. They were found near the entrance to a multi-family dwelling on Alois Place within the housing development.

"At this time, it appears that the victims were standing near the entrance area to the building when a male suspect approached on foot and fired numerous rounds in their direction, striking them both," Murray said. "Ballistic evidence was recovered from the scene, and the investigation is continuing at this time. A possible motive for the incident is not clear at this time."

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives Francisco Brito or Dave Tanis of the Ceasefire Unit at (973) 321-1342.
