NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – The 2014 Union County Boys Lacrosse Championship will run through the Summit Hilltoppers.
Following a county-wide seeding meeting on Sunday morning, the Union County head coaches voted the Hilltoppers as the tournament’s top seed, edging out Westfield, who was given the No. 2 seed.
Summit has won the last two county titles, beating the Blue Devils 9-5 in last year’s championship bout.
Scotch Plains-Fanwood drew the third seed, while New Providence will be the fourth. Oratory Prep, Johnson, Cranford and Gov. Livingston round out the field.
Summit and Westfield each receive byes into the semifinals, while New Providence awaits the winner of No. 5 Oratory Prep/No. 8 Gov. Livingston, and SPF the victor of No. 6 Johnson/No. 7 Cranford in the opening rounds of the tournament.
Play-in and first round games must be completed by May 5, while the semi-finals will be played on May 8. The championship game is scheduled for May 10. The tournament’s final two rounds will be played at Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark.
