UNION, NJ – The Union County Democratic Committee will hold a special meeting on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to select a Democratic candidate for the position of County Sheriff. The seat became vacant upon the passing of long-time sheriff, Ralph Froehlich. The candidate chosen during the meeting will appear on the ballot in the Nov. 4 general election.
New Jersey Assemblyman and Union County Democratic Committee Chairman Jerry Green announced the meeting earlier this week.
“While this will undoubtedly be for many of us a somber occasion given the circumstances of how the vacancy occurred, it is also our responsibility to select our party’s standard bearer for County Sheriff,” stated Green in a written statement. “I have provided written notification to all members of the Union County Democratic Committee, and I trust they will make every effort to be at this important meeting.”
The meeting will be held at the Galloping Hill Caterers, 325 Chestnut Street, Union, NJ
Members of the public who are interested in screening for the position must supply a written letter of intent and a resume via email to info@UnionCountyDems.com no later than 5:00 pm EST on August 29, 2014.
