Union Defeats Westfield Varsity Football Team, 25-14

October 13, 2013 at 12:24 AM

WESTFIELD, NJ -- The Union High School Farmers defeated the Westfield Blue Devils, 25-14, in a game at Gary Kehler field on Saturday.

Eugene Rawles and Dylan Elliot each scored touchdowns for the Blue Devils.

"I though we played great in the first half," said Blue Devils Head Coach James DeSarno. "We just didn't come out with the same fire in the second half that we did in the first."

The game was a special one for Westfield, as it was both Pink Out and Band Day. Each October, students and families color the stands pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Sports teams, the Marching Blue Devils and fans are encouraged all month to wear pink clothing or ribbons to support research for a cure.

Band Day is also an annual event and a chance for non-marching band members from Roosevelt Intermediate, Edison Intermediate and Westfield High School to participate in an exciting musical performance.

The Blue Devils will play their next game at Franklin High School on Oct. 18.
