MORRISTOWN, NJ - The first day of school is always an exciting time for students and their families. The first day of school at Unity Charter School, in Morristown, lived up to all the expectations and excitement students had built up over the summer. As parents arrived the pride and contentment showed across their faces as they took pictures and escorted their children to the common room for the first school wide meeting. A tradition and practice that takes place each and every day at Unity as students and teachers begin the day.
Throughout the morning, curious eyes sat focused in awe as they looked at their teachers. They wondered and experienced how all their teacher’s hard work and preparation would come to fruition. Students met new classmates, explored the building and established routines that will successfully carry them through the year. Through their hard work the teachers will inspire students to see the future as a blank slate. A blank slate they will fill using their creativity, as they develop a passion for learning and a curiosity for the world around them.
Teachers at the school are reminded of the words of “Michaelangelo who said, “The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark.” As educator, teachers at the Unity Charter School continue to challenge their students, in a safe nurturing environment, by setting high academic expectations for all students while providing supportive systems to assure they succeed.
