CHATHAM, NJ - On or about July 31, daytime road work will begin on Fairmount Avenue. The road will be milled and paved from Main Street to Watchung Avenue. The entire project is expected to take approximately 3 weeks. Motorists should expect to see delays, closures and detours in the area while work is underway. It is expected that one lane on Fairmount Avenue will be open during most of the time depending on where the work is being done.
Access to the train station north lot can be made via the Main Street entrance. Access to the train station south lot can be made via the Front Street entrance.
Access to the Borough Hall can be made from Fairmount Avenue except for brief periods when the contractor is working directly in front of the driveways.
Residents will be able to access the Borough Hall from the Lum Avenue entrance to the ECLC School. Follow the ECLC parking lot around to the rear of the building where you will be able to access the parking lot for the Borough Hall. Motorists are asked to avoid Fairmount Avenue whenever possible until the work is completed.
