UPDATING: Winter Storm Magnus is Blowing Into West Essex Area

WEST ESSEX, NJ - As predicted by the Essex County Airport in Fairfield, dangerous wind gusts have caused power outages and hazardous driving conditions. We continue to update this page with new information.

Roseland Avenue
resident who reported the Roseland Avenue utility pole "sparkling green" commented, "Caldwell Police and Fire Departments have both called PSE&G., this has been happening since 4:30. They have still not shown up."

Essex Fells Police Department have just put out the following statement:

Forest Way Closed between Rensselaer Road and Hathaway Lane until approximately 8pm.
Use alternate route.

Essex Fells Chief Vincent Kulik commented, "The work is being done by PSE&G tree crews to clear all the trees near their wires which has contributed to a number of outages. We hate to see the trees go but it's necessary!"

Power is restored to the West Essex Middle School, Squire Hill area of North Caldwell 

We remain under a WIND ADVISORY until 6pm. The wind gusts should be at the same rate of strength - 48 mph - as they were last night between 10pm to midnight; enough for small trees to blow over

- including the West Essex Middle School have no power. A tree came down on a high voltage line.

Essex Fells Police issued a statement:

Power has been restored and roadway is open.

High winds and heavy rain are expected overnight into the morning.
Be prepared and stay safe.

The Essex Fells Police Department issued a statement:

Additional power outages - Roseland Ave, Forest Way, Park, Essex, Hawthorne.
Related to problem on Forest Way. 
PSE&G crews working to restore power.
Please do not call 9-1-1 or Police to report outage.
Areas of Caldwell are also affected along Roseland Ave."

Roseland Avenue grid is now without power.

The Essex Fells Police Department issued a statement:

Road closure forest between Rensselaer and Hathaway and limited power out on Rennselaer.
A power line on Forest is causing limited power outage on Rensselaer Road.
PSE&G has crews on scene and they expect to have the problem repaired in the next few hours. Forest Way is closed to allow the crews to work safely." 

Earlier tonight, power has gone on and off intermittently between 6pm to 7pm along the Roseland Avenue grid in Caldwell and Essex Fells.
