SPARTA, NJ  - A Verona man, stopped for weaving on Route 15 South faces drug charges.  On March 8 around 11:20 a.m. Officer Jonathan Poon stopped Joseph Denicola III, 28 driving a grey Chrysler 200, police said.

Poon’s investigation ended with Denicola and the passenger in custody for having heroin, hypodermic needles and drug paraphernalia in the car.  Both were brought to the Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing, police report.

Denicola claimed the drugs and other contraband were his.  The passenger was released without charges.  Denicola was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles, possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to maintain lane, careless driving and failure to inspect, police said.

Denicola was given a court date and released.
