VERONA, NJ - The Verona Police Department welcomed a new police officer into its ranks on Sunday and he's just four years old.
According to the Verona PBA's Facebook page, the Verona police first met four-year-old Micco when they responded to his home after he fell and sustained a serious skull fracture. The officers later learned that Micco also has a genetic disorder called Alagille Syndrome.
As a suprise for Micco on his birthday, Verona Police Officers along with West Orange Police Officers decided to make Micco a police officer for the day. They gathered in uniform on Sunday "to welcome one brave young boy into their blue family."
The officers showed up at Micco's house with sirens blaring to provide a special escort to police headquarters. Micco and his family were give a tour of the police department and the Micco was sworn in as a police officer by Chief of Police Chris Kiernan. Micco also received a uniform and badge.
