VNA of Somerset Hills to Begin Rummage Donations

The Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills will kick off its rummage drive on Sept. 6 and it will continue through Sept. 24. Donations can be made Monday thru Saturdays between 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Far Hills Fairground. They are asking that like items be bagged together and that the bags are not heavier than 20 pounds apiece.

The list of acceptable items include:

Clean items in good to excellent condition
They cannot accept clothes with stains, tears, worn elastic bands, broken zippers, missing buttons, shoes without buckles or laces, and belts that are tattered and worn.

Clean electrical items in working condition
Vacuum cleaners must have all parts and model must be less than 10 years old
Please box or bag all parts together and attach to the electrical item
Remember to attach remote to donated item
Audio systems
Cell phones, newer with accessories in a plastic bag
Dehumidifiers (Spring sale), newer models
Dorm refrigerators
DVD and Blue Ray systems
Flat screen TVs
Humidifiers (Fall sale), newer models
iPads, ipods Nooks, e-readers and associated accessories/equipment
Quality speakers
Sewing machines (table top models)
Vaporizers (Fall sale only)
VCR and DVD recorder combos

Furniture in good to excellent condition
Luggage must be in excellent condition; no locked luggage without keys or combination

Clean items in good to excellent condition
Pots and pans without lids or tops are acceptable
Tupperware and other containers (cookie jars, canisters, etc.) must have lids
No items that are broken, chipped or are missing pieces

All office supplies
Greeting cards
Puzzles (over 300 pieces)
Games (12+ years)
Arts & crafts
Photo albums
Manual typewriters

Items in good, working and useable condition

All toys, dolls, games, puzzles and stuffed animals

Trail closure Dates For Annual Deer Hunt Coming Up at Lord Stirling EEC in Basking Ridge

BERNARDS TWP., NJ - The Somerset County Park Commission is warning hikers and others who use the trail system by the Environmental Education Center in Basking Ridge that trails will be closed for an upcoming deer hunt.

The first date of the trail system closure will be on Wednesday, Jan. 25, according to the park commission.
