FAR HILLS, NJ _ The spring Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills giant rummage sale is scheduled for May 3 to 5, and volunteers will be accepting donations to stock the fundraising event through this Tuesday, April 23.
The rummage sales held every spring and fall by the Basking Ridge-based VNA help uninsured and underinsured patients of the home-nursing organization, which assists residents of Morris and Somerset with health care needs provided by visiting nurses.
Twice a year, thousands of bargain hunters visit the long-running and well-known rummage sale, staffed by hundreds of area volunteers who sort donated items and place them for display in about two dozen tented "departments."
Last donation date is Tuesday, April 23
The last opportunity to donate items is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, April 22 to 23. Volunteers can assist those donating with unloading items from their vehicles.
The sale each year attracts shoppers from throughout New Jersey and even regulars who travel from other states.
The sale depends on donations from everything from clothing for all ages and all occasions, books, (pretested) electronics, many toys, sports equipment, furniture, home decor and more - including especially valuable and unique items that go into the "Bon ton" tent.
Food will be available too.
More information on the sale and items suitable for donation can be read online.
