Vogel Honored at New Providence Board of Education Meeting

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The New Providence Board of Education honored former board member Susan C. Vogel for her years of service at its meeting Thursday night.

Vogel was presented with a plaque by current member John Wolak, indicative of not only her contributions as a board member, but also her role as the former PTA president at Salt Brook School. Vogel also received a proclamation from three legislators from the 21st District--State Senator Tom Kean, Jr., Assemblyman Jon Bramnick and Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz..

Hugo Barth presented the Board of Education with a check from the New Providence Education Foundation for $58,347. Barth said that over the past 10 years, the New Providence Education Foundation has given the district over $550,000.

In other business, Thomas Trezza, who heads the Drive for Autism Foundation, donated $2,000 in memory-of Alex Wu, aSalt Brook third-grader who passed away last year. The money is to be used for the purchase of two REDCAT classroom FM systems, which are voice amplification systems used to help students with auditory processing issues.

Salt Brook kindergarten teacher Mary Webster has announced her retirement after more than 30 years at the school.
